Belgium Air Force – Two New Winches

The first of two new Skylaunch Evo winches was delivered to the Belgium Air Force. They said they can see there will be a big improvement over their older four drum Vangelder / Mel diesel winch.

Since Vangelder/ Mel shut down many years ago, Skylaunch has been supplying parts and services for this winch, but the old design is difficult to work on and requires high maintenance.

Now they can improve launches, reduce maintenance, simplify winch operation and improve safety.

Testing in the UK was at Seighford Airfield, alongside Staffordshire Gliding Club’s 30-year-old Skylaunch winch. Many thanks to the club for all their support when we test winches at their airfield.

The second of this two-winch order is ready for delivery in September. Once this is delivered, then a full driving and maintenance programme will be given with both winches together, at their airfield in Belgium.
